    Marathon Level 2 - The Achiever

    This breakthrough marathon program has been designed for the beginner or low key runner. A simple, step-by-step, proven, guaranteed training program that runners of any ability or experience level can follow. Those of you who choose this program will be taken by the hand and guided to the healthiest, most successful and motivated running you've ever experienced.

    No one in the area is even close to developing this kind of program. You're invited to apply for membership in this elite group. We will evaluate applications on a first come-first served basis. Once we reach our limit of runners who qualify for this program, no additional applications will be accepted. If you apply too late, and we are unable to accept you, we hope you'll understand.

    Minimum Criteria To Qualify For This Elite Coaching Program:

    1. You must have a goal to run the marathon in 4 hours 15 minutes or slower.
    2. You must be serious in your desire to complete the marathon.
    3. You must be willing to invest the time, energy and resources to maximize your success.
    4. You must be willing to take action.
    5. You must follow the plan we develop as closely as possible.
    6. You must have a positive attitude.

    Level 2 - The Achiever - Marathon Program Description

    Runners who choose this level will be trained to finish the marathon comfortably within a prescribed pace. Emphasis is put on achievement, fun, fitness, and friendship, while minimizing injury.

    Upon registration you will fill out a running profile questionnaire and have a personal consultation with a coach to determine your goal and address any special concerns. Our coaching team will then design your personal marathon training program. Next, you will attend our seminar on "Seven Steps to a Successful Marathon". This will be held on Sunday, May 14th, at 6:00 PM at the Fleet Feet super store in Falls Church. At the seminar you will be introduced to the coaches. You will receive your Personal Best singlet, and a customized binder containing program materials.

    Your custom tailored coaching program will be a 6-month program beginning on Monday, May 21st, and ending approximately 1 month after your marathon.

    The first month of your marathon program will be a build up phase. This portion is designed to develop a foundation and allow a smooth transition into the next, more intense phase. You will receive a weekly workout schedule detailing your workouts for each day along with distance and pace. During the build up phase we will be monitoring your progress by phone, e-mail, and fax.

    During the following four months, beginning on Sunday, June 17th, you will meet the coaches twice a week for supervised workouts. The Saturday long runs and tempo runs start at 7:00 AM sharp. These will take place at varied locations to include the W&OD Bike Trail, C&O Canal, and Burke Lake. Thursday evening speed sessions start at 6:15 PM sharp. These workouts will be held at South Lakes H.S. track in Reston, VA and George Mason University track in Fairfax, VA. For these workouts you will be grouped with teammates who have similar goals and abilities. Each Sunday you will receive a weekly workout schedule detailing your workouts for each day along with distance and pace.

    Your personal program is reviewed on a weekly basis and modifications are made when indicated.

    The last month of the program will be a recovery phase. This portion is designed to guide you back into a regular running routine while staying healthy and motivated during the weeks following your marathon. You will receive a weekly workout schedule detailing your workouts for each day along with distance and pace. During this final phase we will be monitoring your recovery by phone and e-mail.

    All Interactive Coaching Programs are based in the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan area and are geared for fall races. You must live in the region to participate.

    We have scheduled three important races into the Personal Best Marathon Training Program. The Rockville Twilight 8K on Saturday, July 14th, The Annapolis 10 Miler on Sunday, August 26th, and The Philadelphia Half Marathon on Sunday, September 16th. These races are an essential part of the program and all runners are expected to participate. They are great fun, motivational, and allow us to evaluate your progress. Race entries and fees are not included in the program.
